EdUHK Delegation Visits Peking University for Academic Exchange

From 24 to 28 November 2025, The Education University of Hong Kong’s (EdUHK) Global Institute for Emerging Technologies (GIET) Equity Team led a delegation to participate in the Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange on Digital and Intelligent Transformation of Education (The Exchange) at Peking University (PKU). The EdUHK delegation consisted of 6 faculty members and 9 students from EdUHK. Supported by the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao University Exchange Program 2025, The Exchange aims to strengthen collaboration between EdUHK and PKU in the areas of educational digitalization, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enhanced learning, and educational innovation.

The Exchange officially commenced with the Opening Ceremony, chaired by Professor Jia Jiyou, Head of the Department of Educational Technology at the Graduate School of Education (GSE) and Director of the International Research Centre for Education and Information at PKU. Distinguished guests, including Professor Jiang Kai (Dean of GSE), Dr. Zhou Hang (Deputy Division Director of Beijing Municipal Education Commission's Information Technology Division), and Dr. Shang Junjie (Execute Director of the Lab of Learning Sciences) delivered remarks, emphasizing AI’s critical role in advancing education and highlighting the promising prospects for Beijing-Hong Kong collaboration in educational digital transformation.

During the Exchange, two hybrid Faculty Forums were held to deepen academic dialogue of (Gen)AI application and teaching innovation, chaired by Ms. Zhao Pianpian (Chief Editor of Modern Education News) and Professor Jia Jiyou, respectively. The two Faculty Forums brought together more than 50 participants. Faculty members from both universities shared insights into tech-driven education equity, AI-enhanced teaching, learning and curriculum transformation, showcasing how emerging technologies enable educational innovation in different education contexts.

The Exchange also held two Student Forums to provide a platform for early-career researchers to share innovative research and educational technology application practices. A total number of 17 students from EdUHK and PKU delivered their presentations, chaired by Dr. Song Lingqing (Editor-in-Chief of China Educational Technology) and Dr. Yun Pui Ho Patrick (C&I, EdUHK), respectively. The forums facilitated intellectual exchange within student communities and further stimulated students’ in-depth thinking and enthusiasm for exploring AI-enabled teaching and learning.

During the visit, the delegation also toured iFLYTEK, the National Museum of China, PKU campus and its Archaeological Museum. These visits provided cultural immersion and furthered the Exchange’s goal of deepening cross-institutional educational collaboration between Hong Kong SAR and the Chinese Mainland.
